With summer on its way, it’s time for our Tenovus’ sun safety advisors to start visiting schools to spread those all-important sun safety messages!
According to Tenovus:
“Skin cancer rates continue to rise in Wales, even though it’s preventable in most cases. So we need to make sure we educate our children to stay safe in the sun.”
Endorsed by Bridgend Healthy Schools, Tenovus Cancer Care are running a brilliant initiative for all schools in Wales. We would like to take this opportunity to highlight this great opportunity to all our Bridgend Schools.
What is the initiative?
Tenovus have trained Sun Safety Advisers who will be delivering interactive class workshops which are linked to the national curriculum. In previous years the vast majority of teachers found the sessions were:
“Age appropriate (97%) and well designed and effective (93.9%).”
This year Tenovus have teamed up with the Skcin Schools Sun Safety Scheme and are able to support schools that wish to achieve a sun safe school accreditation.
How do you sign up?
For more information on what the accreditation involves and how you can sign your school up for a session this summer, please view the leaflets below (Welsh and English availble). Spaces are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis, so don’t delay and sign up today for this FREE and very beneficial initiative.
